In 1932 Bill Gainey founded gainey painting in Bloomfield, Indiana. John Gainey, his son, joined the family business in 1953 and took over a year later as owner after Bill's passing. Soon Ray Gainey, John's brother began painting. In 1960 the brothers moved the business to Linton Indiana. When Ray passed away in 1975 Jay Gainey, John's son began working part-time. Jay joined the crew full time in 1978. John and Jay became partners in Gainey Painting and remained partners until John's death in 2003. Jay is now the sole owner of Gainey Painting since 2003. Gainey Painting has maintained a professionial reputation for over 75 years and 3 generations.

The Gainey Painting crew has over 82 years of combined painting experience. Rick has been painting with Gainey Painting since 1984. He lives in Linton with his wife and 2 children. Jeff began painting with Gainey Painting in 1990 and resides in Linton with his wife and children. Kevin became part of the crew in 2001 and is a lifelong resident of Linton. Ryan, Jeff's younger brother, is an I.S.U. student who has been helping out during school breaks since 2003. The Gainey Painting crew is a close group with lifelong ties.

Being centrally located in Linton, Gainey Painting is able to work in Terre Haute, Bloomington, Vincennes and all areas in between. Gainey Painting specializes in residential interior repaints, which consist of 60% of the business. Gainey Painting also specializes in residential exterior repaints, new construction and small commercial. The Gainey Painting crew has 5 members allowing for quick completion of jobs while maintaining a small town personal feel. The Gainey Painting crew has remained the same for many years and work well together. Professionalism and integrity are the defining points of Gainey Painting.
